Dawid Urbanski is a software engineer at Caraway, the creator of Publr, a single-binary CMS written in Zig, and Universal Data Layer, an open project for unifying content across CMSes. A seasoned speaker, he has worked with almost every major CMS on the market over his career, which is what eventually drove him to build his own. He builds tools that he hopes will still run a decade from now.
[ENG] Publr: A CMS at the Edge of What's Possible
Most CMS architecture in 2026 stacks the same blocks: a JS framework, a runtime, a bundler, a couple hundred npm packages, a container, a database service. Publr asks the opposite question — how far can you push each layer of the stack before the whole thing breaks? — and ships the answer as a single ZIG binary with embedded SQLite, no npm, no frameworks, and no external Zig packages. The whole CMS builds with one command and deploys as one file.
